Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual compensation for this position is between $105000 – $245000 per year. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Day to day:

  • Represent clients including insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured employers. 
  • Draft and prepare client correspondence and legal pleadings. 
  • Attend court appearances as required. 
  • Manage and maintain case calendars. 
  • Conduct depositions and cross-examinations, including those of medical professionals. 
  • Negotiate settlements for workers' compensation files and lien claims. 
  • Proactively manage caseloads to ensure efficient progress. 
  • Mentor and supervise legal assistants. 
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and vendors. 
  • Participate in marketing events with both new and existing clients. 
  • Review and work on case files, accurately entering time into billing software. 
  • Input and update case information in PracticeMaster. 
  • Ensure all deadlines are met for client correspondence. 
  • Attend client file review meetings. 
  • Conduct training seminars for clients on updates in workers' compensation case law. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of workers' compensation case law and statutes. 

Must haves:

  • 3+ years of experience practicing Workers' Compensation law. 
  • Active membership in the California Bar is required. 
  • Track record of successfully advocating on behalf of insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured employers. 
  • Skilled in preparing professional correspondence for clients. 
  • Familiarity with drafting legal pleadings. 
  • Proven ability to effectively negotiate settlements for workers' compensation files and lien claims. 
  • Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor degrees
